Awards

 

The Houston CPA Society presents awards to members who have provided outstanding service to the organization and the profession. The following awards are just a sample of the awards we give each year. To nominate a colleague for a Houston CPA Society award, complete the Awards Nomination Form. You may also nominate a colleague for recognition from TSCPA.

Distinguished Service to the Profession
Awarded to an individual who has served the profession in an outstanding manner at the local, state and national levels.

Distinguished Public Service
Awarded to an individual who has done something significant for the community by virtue of the professional or volunteer efforts or has held public office.

Stan and Margeret Voelkel Award
Awarded to an individual who has made significant contributions to accounting education. Stan and Margaret Voelkel were tremendous supporters of our education initiatives and the award goes to an individual who has given back either in the classroom teaching students about accounting or by going to schools in the local community to educate K-12 students on careers in accounting.

Outstanding Committee Chair
Awarded to a committee chair who has gone above and beyond and were critical in the success of their committee’s goals.

Outstanding Committee Member
Awarded to an individual(s) who have gone above and beyond and were critical in the success of their committee’s goals.

Outstanding CPA of the Year
Awarded to an individual who has provided a tremendous amount of time to the Houston CPA Society over the course of the current year.

Outstanding Young CPA
Awarded to an individual who has been an active participant in the organization and is under the age of 35.

Outstanding Student Member
Awarded to an individual who has been actively involved with the organization during their time as student member and has contributed significantly to the Student Auxiliary.

CPE Event of the Year
Awarded to a group whose event has exceeded

Rookie of the Year
Awarded to an individual who is newly active in the Society, but has gone above and beyond in serving during the course of this year.

Significant Contribution by a Member in Public Accounting
Awarded to an individual working in public accounting who has given back significantly to the organization and the profession.

Significant Contribution by a Member in Industry
Awarded to an individual working in industry who has given back significantly to the organization and the profession.

Significant Contribution by a Member in Education
Awarded to an individual working in education who has given back significantly to the organization and the profession.

Special Recognition
Awarded to an individual who has done something significant over the course of the last year, but is not eligible for any of the awards above.
