5-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN

GOAL: Increase membership to 70% of Area Licensed CPAs and Increase Ethnic Diversity

  • Increase membership from large employers of CPAs
  • Increase active participation by members from large employers of CPAs
  • Board and leadership will reflect the diversity of licensees
  • Improve diversity of participation in volunteers, speakers and attendees
  • Utilize a one-to-one method for member recruitment of prospects

GOAL: Be Recognized as the Premier Provider of Member Services Among Houston Area Professional Organizations

  • Add affinity programs that are of value to membership and increase affinity usage
  • Increase online services through the Society website including continuing education registration and newsletter issuance
  • Develop an online electronic library to increase member usage
  • Improve job bank and increase usage

GOAL: Be the Premier Provider of Continuing Education to Houston CPAs

  • Increase continuing education hours through expanded conference including non-technical topics, web-based courses and identification of speakers of cutting edge issues

GOAL: Be Recognized as a Major Contributor to the Community

  • Identify others outside the CPA profession to join our community efforts
  • Add another unique charitable event that will attract outside participation
  • Increase member involvement and leadership in community organizations' activities
  • Be acknowledged as an organization with a track record of enhancing the Houston area community

GOAL: Increase the Value of the CPA Profession Through Business and Community Leadership

  • Facilitate Society member opportunities to serve on boards of directors for Top 100 publicly held corporations, top 25 privately held corporations, top 25 nonprofit organizations and councils of city and county entities
  • Promote Society member leadership positions through the media
  • Submit articles on Society member leadership contributions

GOAL: Be A Leader in Implementation of Technology

  • Primary communication with members and leadership via technological avenues
  • Support technological developments in CE development and delivery

Initiatives for the Year Ending May 31, 2004

GOAL: Increase membership to 70% of Area Licensed CPAs and Increase Ethnic Diversity

  • Find champions in large employers to function as membership contacts
  • Contact membership "drops" over the last two years to encourage reinstatement
  • Champion a cooperative membership initiative with the TSCPA
  • Create a one-to-one recruitment program
  • Build relationships with minority and specialty accounting organization boards and extend invitations to our Board meetings

GOAL: Be Recognized as the Premier Provider of Member Services Among Houston Area Professional Organizations

  • Expand Society services such as affinity programs, job bank and library
  • Sponsor Quarterly Society meetings with CE and cocktail receptions city wide
  • Update and improve chapter Web site to encourage increased member usage

GOAL: Be the Premier Provider of Continuing Education to Houston CPAs

  • Continue to maintain and improve member satisfaction, attendance and profitability of Society sponsored CE
  • Promote online CE registration and continue Fee Friday CE with online registration
  • Offer online CE courses via Society Web site

GOAL: Be Recognized as a Major Contributor to the Community

  • Increase budget and use for Public Relations Consultant
  • Maximize media recognition for charitable events
  • Continue to promote members and their accomplishments in community
  • Attain acknowledgement as an organization that enhances the Houston area community
  • Broaden base of contributors for two major charity events

GOAL: Increase the Value of the CPA Profession Through Business and Community Leadership

  • Conduct annual leadership conference to focus on leadership skills and responsibilities, and promote the Society leadership vision.
  • Recognize one committee leader in the "Forum" each month
  • Promote submission of articles prepared by CPAs to local publications

GOAL: Be a Leader in Implementation of Technology

  • Begin use of remote teleconferencing
  • Upgrade and expand the Web site
  • Begin sending the "Forum" electronically
